AT&T Prepaid travel support

AT&T's prepaid support page lists a separate line for travel abroad, +1 408 962 1025. AT&T's own help article for Canada and Mexico gives the same number for help from any phone.

AT&T says this line is available 24/7 and free to call from an AT&T mobile phone. It does not say which timezone the 24/7 cover, so do not assume it is your local time.

Charges and roaming on AT&T lines

AT&T's support pages say calls from an AT&T wireless phone to these lines are free. If you call from another phone, AT&T's free-call wording does not apply, and the call is charged at the 002call rate, plus any charges from that phone's carrier or hotel.

AT&T also warns about other charges while you are abroad:

• AT&T says "International charges apply when you talk, text, or use data outside the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands."
• AT&T bills calls to a number outside the US as an international long distance call. Its page says this includes calls to the country you are in.
• If you use Wi-Fi Calling, AT&T says to use it only for calls to the US, because calls to other numbers from abroad are billed under your line's international roaming feature.

Calls from a hotel room or public phone may carry extra charges set by that phone or hotel, not by AT&T or 002call.
