How to choose
Start with how you call
You want to call from a computer
Pick a browser-based service. 002Call works in any modern browser with no download, and Zadarma offers browser calling as part of a business phone system.
You call one country a lot from your phone
A monthly subscription from Rebtel or Viber Out, or a SIM bundle from Lebara or Lycamobile, can work out cheaper if you use most of the minutes every month.
You call now and then
Pay-as-you-go credit that does not expire avoids paying for minutes you never use. Check whether a service freezes or expires unused credit before you top up.

Common questions
Choosing an international calling service
What is the cheapest way to make international calls?
It depends on how often you call. If you call one country for hours every month, a subscription or SIM bundle is usually cheapest. If you call now and then, pay-as-you-go credit that never expires avoids paying for unused minutes. Compare the per-minute rate for your destination before you choose.
Can I make international calls without an app?
Yes. 002Call runs in any modern browser on a computer or phone. You open the dialer, enter the number, and pay for the minutes you use. There is nothing to install.
Can I use WhatsApp to call regular phone numbers abroad?
No. WhatsApp calls are free, but only to other WhatsApp users. To reach a landline, or a mobile without WhatsApp, you need a service that connects to the phone network, such as 002Call, Viber Out, or Rebtel.
What replaced Skype for international calls?
Microsoft shut down Skype in May 2025. People who used Skype credit to call phone numbers have moved to services such as 002Call, Google Voice, Viber Out, and Rebtel.
Does the person I call need the same app?
Not with services that call regular phone numbers. With 002Call, Viber Out, Rebtel, Talk360, Yolla, and Boss Revolution, the person you call answers on their normal landline or mobile.
