Santander International lists +44 1624 641 888 for customers calling from overseas. The line is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK time, and opens at 9.30am on Wednesdays.

1. Sign in first if you can. Santander International asks customers to register for Online Banking before they download the app.
2. Call +44 1624 641 888. Use this number from overseas. The UK freephone is for calls from a UK landline or mobile.

If your account is with Santander UK, Santander International cannot help. It says it is a separate organisation, so contact Santander UK for those accounts.

Reporting Visa card fraud or a scam

Report fraud on a Visa card to the Fraud Detection Team on +44 1268 240 787. Its hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 9am to 5pm, UK time.

Lost or stolen Visa card

Santander International says to contact it as soon as you can. Then:

1. Call +44 1624 641 888 during opening hours. The team will cancel the card immediately and issue a replacement.
2. Expect the new card in 7 to 10 working days. The time depends on your location.
3. Report a theft to the police. Santander International asks for this if the card was stolen.
4. Outside opening hours, call the Visa Global Card Assistance Service. It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on +1 303 967 1096. Cost: $0.02 / minute.

The operator will ask for the issuing bank, the country of issue, the card type, the 16-digit card number and the name printed on the card. Keep the Visa Global number written down somewhere separate from your card, as Santander International advises.

Using your card and reporting travel

Santander International warns that in some countries or regions, using a charge or debit card, or making or receiving payments, may be restricted. You can report travel plans by phone or through Online Banking secure messaging, and the page says protection measures apply once you do.
