Vodafone UK Roaming Charges: What It Costs to Call Home, and a Cheaper Way
Vodafone UK charges a daily fee to use your plan abroad: £2.75 a day in most of Europe and £8 a day in the US, Australia, India, Thailand, the UAE and many other countries. What Vodafone UK charges to roam
These are Vodafone's daily charges on pay monthly and Basics plans, from 14 April 2026 (Source: Vodafone). Calls back to the UK are covered by the daily fee in Zones B, C and D (Source: Vodafone).

What a week of calls home costs
Say you're in the US for a week and call home for 10 minutes each evening.
- On Vodafone roaming: 7 days × £8 = £56.
- On 002call over Wi-Fi: 70 minutes × $0.02 = about $1.40.
How to call home without the daily charge
- Switch on airplane mode, then turn Wi-Fi back on. Your Vodafone SIM stays off the local network, so the daily charge isn't triggered.
- Connect to Wi-Fi at your hotel, a café or your rental.

When the daily charge is still worth it
The daily charge also lets you use your mobile data, which 002call doesn't replace. In Europe, £2.75 is low enough that it may be worth paying on days you need maps or messaging.
