Calling Telstra from Overseas: Roaming Support Number
Calling Telstra from overseas about roaming, your Day Pass or a problem while you travel? Telstra publishes one phone line for customers who are overseas, and it is open on weekdays in Australian Eastern time. From a phone that is not on a Telstra service, the call costs $0.02 / minute from 002call.
Roaming help line
Telstra's international roaming page gives one phone number for customers who are overseas and having trouble.
| Number | Hours (timezone) | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| +61 439 125 109 | Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm AEST | $0.02 / minute |
- Chat first if you can. Telstra says you can chat with it anytime, 7 days a week, in the My Telstra app. The app is free to use while roaming, although some functions use a small amount of data.
- Call on a weekday. Dial +61 439 125 109 between 8am and 7pm AEST, Monday to Friday. Telstra says the call is free from a Telstra service.
- Call from another phone. If you are using a hotel phone or a device on another network, the rate in the table applies.
Day Pass and roaming charges
Telstra's roaming page sets out how overseas use is charged. Check these before you make a long call.
- Day Pass charges apply on the days your service is used overseas to make or receive calls.
- Once you are back in Australia, you can leave your International Roaming Day Pass switched on and you will not be charged.
- Some usage is excluded from Day Pass, such as MMS, video calls and third-party content. These are charged at standard Pay-As-You-Go International Roaming rates.
- Each SMS costs 75c. Receiving an SMS does not trigger your Day Pass.
- International Roaming charges apply when you use call forwarding.
Keep SMS roaming notifications working
Keep your SIM in a mobile phone so you can receive SMS roaming notifications. Telstra says these notifications will not display on most tablets or PCs.
Telstra also notes that some destinations may not be reachable while you are overseas, or may be temporarily restricted.

Breakdown of Providers
Calls to Australia from overseas can cost more than you expect, depending on how you dial.
- Carrier roaming: $0.50 - $2.00 / min, depending on the carrier, plus monthly and hidden charges.
- Hotel room phones: a hotel landline can add administrative markups on top of the standard call rate.
- 002call: $0.02 / min to Telstra's roaming line, +61 439 125 109.
Why 002call is the smart way to call
002call places the call over the internet from your browser, so it skips the international call charges that a carrier or hotel phone adds. You pay one flat rate of $0.02 / min, with no subscription. Wi-Fi keeps mobile data charges off the call.
Calls from mobiles, public phones and hotel rooms may attract extra charges.
Calling from a Telstra service is free, but when you are on another phone, 002call gives you one flat rate of $0.02 / min for the same roaming line.
